Diary of Olivia- Part 1

As the sun went down to the meadows seen far away, I could hear the honing sound of my dad's car. Being the only child in the family, moms death made it horrific for me. After reaching home from school I use to sit in the veranda waiting for my dad. My dad is a worker in the ongoing construction of a dam in our state. As the dam is the largest construction in our country, my dad usually reaches back home after 10 pm and leaves by morning 4 am. He loves me so much, and everyday he brings me the Lindt dark chocolate bar. My name is Olivia and this is my yarn.

I'm a 8th grade student and being the daughter of an engineer of a dam I was really poor in physics. My dad always tells me to practice physics in my free time, but rather I would spend that time chatting with Amaya, my nursemaid. We shared a special bond since my mom's death. She was married and so will leave by 6pm everyday. As my dad's car came closer I went down to the front yard. To my amusement he wasn't smiling today, instead I saw a intense look of tension. I confirmed he was worried when I found out that the chocolate bar was missing that day.

As we entered the home he told me that he has stopped working in the dam and is going to the factory nearby from the next day. I was happy that I will get to spend more time with him as the factory work shift ends by 6pm everyday. Seeing the smile on my face he also started laughing. He gave me the pancake Amaya prepared for dinner and we went to sleep. At night I felt cold breeze going through my blanket, I woke up to check the open window and found all were closed. I went back to sleep.

It was 7 when I woke up, and the toasted bread slices on the table attracted me to the living room, as always my dad went to work, the day was really pleasant. And then the Phone started ringing. It is Amaya and she spoke in a really low tone. "I know it is hard for you going through all this alone, but I will not be not coming anymore" and the phone hung up. Tears started forming in my eyelids and her voice was still going on my ears. I started wondering about so many things: dad quitting his job, Amaya speaking in the oddest way and the breeze I felt through my veins.

To be continued.......
